Sorella
Origin: Italian, English
Meaning: an Italian word meaning "sister", although I don't believe it's actually used as a name in Italy.
It could also be a stretch to say it is a feminine form of Sorell, a variant spelling of Sorrel meaning "sour" from Germanic sur, named for a sour-tasting plant, or a variant of Sorrell meaning "chestnut" from Old French sor, referring to someone with reddish brown hair.
Variants:
- Sorrel
- Sorrell
