Origin: Welsh

Meaning: derived from Morcant, a Welsh masculine name composed of Welsh elements mor (sea) and cant (circle) meaning "sea circle".

It could also be derived from Welsh mawr (great) and cant (hundred) meaning "great hundred".

It's also a modern form of Morgen, based on Irish unisex name Muirgen meaning "born of the sea" from Celtic mori (sea) and geno (born).

In the Arthurian legends, Morgan le Fay is a powerful sorceress sometimes depicted as the half-sister of Arthur and his most dangerous enemy.
