Dwight

Origin: English

Meaning: from an English surname derived from medieval feminine name Diot, a diminutive of Dionysia, the feminine form of Latin Dionysius from Greek Dionysos composed of Greek Dios (of Zeus) combined with Nysa, the name of the region where the god Dionysos was raised, possibly meaning "tree" though the meaning is uncertain. However, Dionysos is thought to be pre-Greek, possibly Thracian in origin.
