Caelum

Origin: Latin

Meaning: it's either related to Latin caelum meaning "sky, heaven", though it also means "chisel". The constellation Caelum Scalptorium means "The engraver's chisel".

The pronounciation is kind of tricky. I've always pronounced it with a hard k sound, like kay-lum or kie-lum, though I've seen it listed as being pronounced as see-lum in Latin. I prefer the former pronounciation.

Variants:
  • Caelius (Ancient Roman)

Feminine forms:
  • Caelia (Ancient Roman)
