Meaning: a Hebrew masculine name meaning "feller" or "hewer".

In the Old Testament, Gideon was a judge and military leader who led his people to victory against the Midianites and won. He was also known as Jerubbaal (meaning "let Baal contend against him") because he destroyed shrined dediciated to Baal and Asherah.
