Sabelina
Origin: Medieval English, Italian, Latin
Meaning: I've seen it listed as being a medieval form of Isabel, the medieval Occitan form of Elizabeth meaning "my God is an oath" or "my God is abundance".
It could also be a variant spelling of Zibellina, the Italian form of Sable, which refers to a small mammal belonging to the marten genus, as well as referring to the color "black". Sable ultimately comes from Slavic origin; the Latin word for sable, sabellum, is also derived from it.
Variants:
- Sabeline
- Zibeline
- Zibellina (Italian)
