Samar
Origin: Arabic, Sanskrit
سمر (Arabic) Samar
Meaning: an Arabic feminine name "evening conversation".
It also seems to be a Hindu masculine name, derived from Sanskrit samara meaning "battle" or "war". It could also be a short form of Samarangana, from the title of an ancient Hindu manuscript titled Samarangana Sutradhara meaning "battlefield commander", composed in the 11th century, which deals with techniques of warfare, and in particular war machines.
